Comments: I am blind from birth. I have no eyesight due to retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). I have very good orientation and mobility skills, braille and computer skills. About 24 years ago I visited a guide dog school and got to try a guide dog. I wasn't very comfortable with it. So 23 years later, my son, who can see--who is sighted started taking lessons, working, and participating in interscholastic equestrian association horse shows at a local lesson barn. A few months after that, I was introduced to Jazzy, the only miniature horse at that farm. I knew about guide horses back in 2004 but I was busy with other things at the time. So Jazzy's owner said I could visit Jazzy in her stall. So I did--a whole lot, mostly unsupervised. I taught myself how to use my remaining senses--smell, touch and hearing--in order to learn about Jazzy and be safe around her. The more time I spent withi her, the more I wanted a guide horse. I then learned of one or two other guide horse users around the U.S. I struggled for months to find a trainer. I even asked The Seeing Eye guide dog school, Pilot Dogs, Guide Dogs for the Blind, and others if the guide dog schools would train a mini horse for me as a guide horse. They all refused. A guide horse user told me that the guide dog school are against the idea of guide horses. The Seeing Eye blocked me on their facebook page for mentioning guide horses. And so I finally found someone who would train guide horses for me and for other blind people who want them. Thanks Holly Fisher of Fisher's farrier services!! I hope, soon also, that when I can remarry my ex-wife, Crystal LuAnn Howe, that she too can finally realise her dream of having a guide horse as well. I know that she always wanted one.

Comments: I find myself repeatedly returning to Toyland's website to see the new arrivals every spring. My dream is to buy a few of Toyland's mini's. Then use clicker training (positive reinforcement) to advance their training on to service work, specifically as guide horses for the blind. Just the thought makes my heart sing.

Comments: I am so excited to have found this awesome little farm. When I turn 30 I get half of my inheritance and my dream has been to have a horse. Then I discovered these little fellas and they’ve quickly become part of the dream. My husband and I have bought our dream house with 10 acres and I hope to one day add a little horse to our little farm. Here’s to another three years of impatiently waiting. ❤️

Comments: I bought an 11yo amha amhr registered mare in January. I'm sure she has Falabella breeding, if not pure. Her papers say she's black but she's black/roan with "snowflakes" over her back, a white-haired muzzle with spotted skin, eyes with white sclera. I'm intrigued with her. If I were a younger person (I'm 69) I would be asking you about breeding her to one of your beautiful stallions. So I'm just enjoying her. She's the friendliest horse I've ever owned, likes to put her head on top of mine for no other reason than to hang out with me. She "squeaks" when alarmed, usually by my 1/2 Arab, who she also loves unconditionally. You have a nice website, thanks for all the info.

Comments: Many thanks to Toyland Falabella's for introducing and helping me begin my journey of the breeding and enjoyment of Falabella Miniature horses. My first Falabella was purchased from Toyland and my foundation herd sire, Falabella Guille. I have been very fortunate to have to have bred many beautiful foals from my mares and stallions from Toyland. Laurie and Laureen have a wealth of knowledge and experience. I thank you for giving me the opportunity to embark on my own Falabella journey. I thank you for all the expertise you have shared with me. Toyland is very professional and always eager to lend advise. I look forward to many more talks. Thank you! May we have many more years of friendship and breeding beautiful Falabella foals.

Comments: Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! I cannot say enough good things about Laureen and Toyland Falabella's. As a surprise for me, my husband contacted Laureen and purchased Mercedes to add to our little herd. I use my mini horses for therapy visits.
My husband said Laureen was so helpful, informative, great communication, answered all his questions immediately, sent so many pics, arranged for transportation from Chicago to San Diego and was able to help him keep my surprise a secret for 2 1/2 months! Once my husband told me about Mercedes I contacted Laureen and she was everything and more than my husband said. She has been so kind and helpful and Mercedes is the sweetest most confident mini I have ever known. I have 5 other minis (and 2 full size) and none had the disposition or confidence that Mercedes has. She is a true testament to the breeding and integrity of Toyland Falabella's. I have purchased many horses both big and small and I can honestly say that this was one of the best transactions I have ever had. I only wish I had room for more! I can not say enough good about the quality and disposition of these horses and the integrity of Laureen and Toyland Falabella's. I highly recommend them!!

Comments: They have stood the test of time! I worked at their farm as a teenager and now I'm a 44yo police officer. It's good to know they are still in business. I still remember all of them. I had the pleasure of knowing Gene and later getting to work with Bruce, who treated me like family. I also knew Kathy, Laureen, and Laurie.
I hope your family are happy and healthy, and wish you more generations of success with your family business.

Comments: I purchased Toyland's Sprinter from Laureen two months ago. He is now in my pasture on Maui at three months old! I can't say enough about what an AMAZING person Laureen is and how much she loves and cares for her horses. Her husband, Bruce, is a Godsend as well. Transporting a horse into Hawaii is NOT easy. There is so much paperwork and so many rules...I even had to send crates to Laureen and all of the necessary shipping materials. She was unbelievable to work with. She and Bruce built the kennel, made sure he had mats so he wouldn't slide around, bedded him down safely...and had all paperwork PERFECT! Her vet was a dream- all the tricky Hawaii quarantine paperwork was correct and I had no problem getting him released directly on Maui. Laureen kept me updated and sent me photos and videos of him; she never ever complained when I would reach out with dozens of questions (including all day yesterday after he arrived). She always responds to me quickly, even when I know it's late at night for her or if she's exhausted from a long day. She treated me like I was her only client, my mini was the only mini she worried about, and she treated me like family. A nervewracking experience of buying a baby that I'd never seen from a person that I'd never met, turned out the be one of the very best experiences of my life. I picked Toyland Sprinter up at the airport yesterday. When the cargo person drove up with him, I asked how Sprinter was. His response? "The most well-behaved animal I have EVER seen." The overnight "kennel" handler that he stayed with in San Francisco fell in love with him! Everywhere Sprinter goes, people take pictures and love on him. He is so nicely halter broke with great manners... and nothing in this world phases him. I've only had him 24 hours and I know him! Laureen was a blessing to me. She's not only the breeder of my baby, she's one of my best friends now. She is loving, kind, and her horses are her family. I can't say enough things about Toyland, Laureen, and Bruce (as well as other family members that helped out!). My new baby is frolicking in his pasture, sleeping soundly in his stall and glows with health and happiness. THANK YOU, Laureen! Much love to you forever! Christine Higgins Maui, Hawaii

Comments: Interested in miniatures under 30 inches. Would not rule out a horse that has the looks I like. Am not a breeder, want this for my own pleasure. Have had horses all my life, including stallions. Now own a 2500lb. Draft horse. He is a gentle giant. His best friend was a very tiny stallion. We lost him. The vet thinks he ate something poison. Have been looking for something to love and for my big horse to take care of. He misses his little buddy. We think our little horse ate a mountain laurel leaf. One leaf would kill a small horse. That is all we could find in his fence. We removed the mountain laurel bush. Our farm is 350 acres, but he would stay in small dry lot or a half acre run. Big horse would be with him or beside him. This is my retirement dream. Want to share with church kids. Have pig, goat, rabbit also.

Comments: Your horses are just exquisite! I love the spotted leapord and grulla coats. I really love the horses with the Andalusian look. The curveved neck, muscular body, thick and lush mane, forelock, and tail. Very reminiscent of the Spanish mustang influence. The Arabian look I feel is a bit too commonplace, though. If I were to breed the Falabella I would strive for the Andalusian/ Spanish conquistador horse influence. The perfect blend of strength, beauty, elegance, and durability. I believe they would be excellent show carriage horses! Keep on with your awesome breeding program! I have faith that I will be a Falabella mom one day and that day can't come too soon! God bless and take care!

Comments: I wanted to say thank you for what you have worked so hard to do in keeping Angelica's legacy alive and thriving. I am honored to become a falabella breeder and I am doing plenty of research in my beginning journey. Much of the needed information has been found here, a few in other places. I am so thankful that you would care enough to give your hearts to this work.
I am very interested in obtaining mares and maybe a stallion or two from this awesome line. That is my dream.
Thank you so much for helping me to become better acquainted and knowledgeable about this wonderful breed of miniature horses.
God bless and keep you, Loretta

Comments: Ironically a local breeder near me purchased a stallion from y'all and as much as I always wished I could have a share of your bloodline I found out that I have not one, but three shares. I have two mares and a stallion. There very young, but great conformation and beautiful markings. I can't wait to see what comes out of these three!!!
Comments: love your horses we have a few wish I could afford one of your mares to start color line. So beautiful!

Comments: I have known Laurie Stevens for many years. She is very honest and very dedicated to perfection. Before she entered into the Falabella Miniature horses, she bred Cats, turns out that The Cat Lore Cats (hope I got the name right) became world famous show cats in the cat world. She has now accomplished the same in her Falabella Miniature Horses, thats what happens when you care. Good Luck in the future.

Comments: I have known Laurie and her daughter, Laureen, since I was in Junior High. I know they are devoted and informative owners of Toyland Miniatures since I've seen it first hand. I am proud of the two of them since they have basically built their miniature horse farm from the ground up and have been quite successful at it for about 30 years now. WOWWWWWW - Where did the time go?
I have listened to Laurie countless times on the phone talking someone through how to buy, breed, or start up a farm themselves and I've never known anyone who is more willing to impart the wisdom she has gained from the business and willing become a mentor. She really cares about her customers and her business, domestically and internationally.
The Falabella line is such a beautiful line of horses and they have such a great nature to them. As a pet - they are sure to delight your heart. They are shy at first and then like to nibble on you and nudge you and they make you feel so special! They just LOVE people.
My little girl, Emily, loves them and screams for joy whenever I tell her we're going to "Laurie's farm". It's like little girl nirvana!
Julie
Toylands reply: Julie, Oh, how sweet are you! Thank you for writing on our guest book. You are a very special and dear friend. Thank you Jules from the bottom of my heart. friends for ever...........

I am blind from birth.
